Rising Star BirthKeeper Award
Each year the # BirthKeeper Movement recognizes a “Rising STAR BirthKeeper”. The recipient is a person whose life and work exemplifies the values and principals of the BirthKeeper Movement, and of the life of Jeanine Parvati.
The BirthKeeper Movement recognizes that this work is hard and demands great personal sacrifice.
The Core principals of a BirthKeeper are:

4. Being kind and fearless.
The Core-Committee is blessed and privileged to announce our first recipient of the 2015 Jeannine Parvati Memorial Rising Star BirthKeeper Award to Gena Kirby of Genakirby
Gena Kirby is on a mission. Gena wants moms to know what they are not being told and that they are not alone. On any given day she is either sharing information about gentle birth and parent's right to informed consent on her radio program, or sharing tips on baby-wearing on her TV show. She may be blogging about the newest information on VBACs (vaginal birth after cesarean) or writing about non-violent parenting for a local magazine or syndicated blog. Gena is a tireless advocate for mothers, babies, parents and the people that love them.
Gena is a Doula, a childbirth educator, a La Leche League International Breastfeeding Peer Counselor, and a mother of three children under 13 years old. She served for 5 years on the Board of Directors of Attachment Parenting International and is the ex- President of Texans for Midwifery. She is also a founder of Austin Birth Advocates & is a member of numerous local advocacy groups.
Gena Kirby will be the first recipient of the Jeannine Parvati Memorial Rising Star BirthKeeper Award. To be presented by BirthKeeper, and CNN Hero of the Year, Robin Lin CPM, and Jeannine’s eldest daughter Dr. Loi Medvin on April 30th at the BirthKeeper Summit at Berkeley City College in Berkeley, California, USA.
